Drug arrest follows driving complaint

JASPER — A Wednesday morning report of reckless driving in Jasper resulted in a drug arrest.


The Jasper Police Department received a report of reckless driving on the State Road 162 bypass at 6:45 a.m. A car matching the description was located in a parking lot near the highway’s intersection with Meridian Road.

Police say the driver, Jason M. Boyd, 30, Winslow, consented to a search of the vehicle that resulted in an officer allegedly locating a portable scale in the passenger seat and a small bag containing less than a gram of methamphetamine in the driver’s door pocket.

Authorities booked Boyd into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:56 a.m. on a preliminary Level 6 felony count of methamphetamine possession and a preliminary misdemeanor count of possession of paraphernalia. He posted bond later in the morning.
