JASPER — Police arrested a motorist alleged to have driven recklessly Wednesday on Newton Street.
A Jasper Police Department officer on the city’s north side observed a southbound 2007 Ford passing other vehicles on Newton Street in the area of Reyling Drive at 12:51 p.m.
The officer turned around on the vehicle and watched it continue to pass several vehicles in the turn lane. The officer attempted a traffic stop; however, the driver continued on until eventually stopping on Newton Street south of Second Street.
The driver, Lauren L. Gossom, 32, Owensboro, Kentucky, was taken into custody and booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:15 p.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and misdemeanor reckless driving.
An officer also cited Gossom for disregarding an automatic signal and disregarding a stop sign.
