WEST BADEN — The driver of a car stopped by police Thursday in West Baden went to jail on a trio of preliminary charges.
Indiana State Police stopped a 2005 Volkswagen at 4:45 p.m. for displaying a false and fictitious plate at State Road 150 and Orange County Road 240N in West Baden.
Police believed the driver, Thomas R. Moffitt, of Shoals, was impaired.
Testing at IU Health Hospital showed impairment due to the consumption of the drug category cannabis, police said.
During a search, paraphernalia with marijuana residue was found in Moffitt’s right shoe and a plastic bag containing marijuana was located down his pants, according to police.
Moffitt was booked into the Orange County Jail and later charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated (controlled substance).
Moffitt posted bond and was given a March 23 date to appear in court for an initial hearing.
