ROCKPORT — The Spencer County Sheriff’s Department has identified the person killed in a Saturday night crash west of the Rockport area.
Fatally injured in the 8:45 p.m. CDT accident at State Road 161 and Eureka Road was 25-year-old Jakob Lester of Spencer County, according to the sheriff’s department.
The sheriff’s department has reported that Lester’s vehicle, which was westbound on Eureka Road, ran the stop sign at the highway and a northbound vehicle on State Road 161 was unable to avoid hitting it.
A female who was in the northbound vehicle was transported to be checked and was treated and released, according to the sheriff’s department.
Lester was a graduate of South Spencer High School and was employed by Indiana Tube. His survivors included a wife and two children.
The sheriff’s department reports the investigation into the crash is ongoing and Indiana State Police are assisting.
