HUNTINGBURG — Police responding early today to a vehicle off the roadway south of Huntingburg took the driver into custody.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office and the Huntingburg Police Department responded at 1 a.m. to the area of U.S. 231 and County Road 1000S.
The sheriff’s office said a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Macario P. Sandoval, 49, 508 E. 12th St., Huntingburg, was in a field in the southwest corner of the intersection.
Sandoval, who exhibited signs of intoxication, said he had swerved off the roadway because of the rainy conditions, according to authorities.
The sheriff’s office said Sandoval’s blood alcohol content later tested .156% after a blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Sandoval into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:20 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
