Driver clobbers mailbox, leaves sceneJuly 18, 2019
From Local Sources
JASPER — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a vehicle that struck a concrete mailbox post just northwest of Jasper before leaving the scene last weekend.
A deputy was called to investigate the accident at Ackerman Road and Bart Lane at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Judging by the debris and tire tracks left in a yard in the 1200 block of West Ackerman Road, a deputy said, the vehicle that struck the mailbox had been westbound on Ackerman Road.
The suspect vehicle, for an unknown reason, drove off the south side of the road, a deputy said. It struck the mailbox, continued westbound through a yard for a short distance and then entered back onto the road before leaving the scene westbound.
Total damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office at 812-482-3522.
