JASPER — Police ticketed one of the motorists in a collision between two pickup trucks early Friday afternoon on the city’s south side.
Derek Sitzman, 32, Jasper, was westbound on State Road 162 approaching U.S. 231 in a 1993 Ford Ranger at the time of the 12:30 p.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police said Nicholas Burke, 22, Jasper, was eastbound on County Road 100S in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and was attempting to make a northbound turn onto U.S. 231.
Burke failed to yield to the Sitzman Ford while attempting the turn and the passenger-side front bumper of the Burke Silverado hit the front bumper of the Sitzman Ranger.
Damage was estimated at $2,500 to the Sitzman Ranger and $1,000 to the Burke Silverado.
There were no injuries.
An officer cited Burke for failing to yield the right of way.
