June 23, 2020
Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Assistant Concertmaster Annie Donato was the recipient of the Alfred Savia Distinguished Young Artist Award. The award is named after Alfred Savia, long-time music director and conductor laureate of the Evansville Philharmonic.
The scholarship is awarded to a regular member of the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (EPYO) who is graduating high school and intends to pursue a music degree in college. The winner is selected by a scholarship committee from the Vanderburgh County Community Foundation, and selection is based on musical excellence, significant contribution as a member of the EPYO, and academic accomplishment. The award is given in consultation and coordination with the EPO music director and the EPYO conductor.
Donato has been a member of EPYO for six years. She will attend Butler University to major in music and English. She is the daughter of Michael and Emi Donato of Jasper.
