Don E. Rust, 79, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:55 p.m., on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at The Waters of Huntingburg.
He was born October 11, 1939, in Huntingburg\ to Victor F. and Cora Mae (Schmett) Rust and married Clara Fay Heim on May 25, 1959, at the Salem Church parsonage in Huntingburg.
He was a UMWA Local #1907 member for 43 years; retired from Amax Coal Company; was a member of Augustana United Church of Christ in Holland; and enjoyed building woodworking projects in his garage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Mark “Porky” Rust, who passed away on January 4, 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Fay Rust of Huntingburg; two sons, Steve (Erin) Rust and Ron (Gretchen) Rust, both of Huntingburg; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Monday evening, February 11, 2019, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 2 to 7 p.m., on Monday, the day of the funeral. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate at the service.
