JASPER — Police arrested a man on multiple preliminary charges Monday after being called regarding a domestic incident.
EMS and the Jasper Police Department were called to the vicinity of a business in the 600 block of Third Avenue at 10:03 p.m. when a female victim told staff she had been stabbed in the head by her boyfriend.
Police arrived to find the victim had a small cut to the top of her head from the tip of a knife that had allegedly been in the possession of her boyfriend, who was gone when officers arrived. The female victim declined to be transported for treatment, according to authorities.
The boyfriend, identified as 31-year-old Brian W. Dillard, who had no known address, was located a short time later on Sycamore Manor. Police alleged Dillard was found to have a syringe, a straw and a spoon in a backpack that he had with him.
Authorities booked Dillard into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:06 p.m. on preliminary charges that included a Level 6 felony count of unlawful possession of a syringe and misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and possession of paraphernalia.
