Distraction leads to Hillham-area crashDecember 21, 2018
From Local Sources
HILLHAM — A distraction resulted in a car-versus-pole crash Tuesday west of Hillham.
Kristin S. Blessinger, 18, of rural French Lick, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when the noon accident occurred west of Cuzco Road North, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Blessinger told deputies she became distracted with a minor medical issue, which resulted in her car going left of center as she exited a curve.
The car left the south side of the highway and struck a utility pole, according to the sheriff’s department. The impact broke off the pole. The sheriff’s department said the car stopped 25 feet away in a field.
Blessinger escaped injury.
Damage to the silver Cruze was estimated at $7,000.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
