JASPER — The Jasper DeutscherVerein has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Alexandra Hasenour and Kieran Kasten.
Hasenour was salutatorian of the Southridge High School Class of 2020. She completed four years of German language study and was president and secretary of her German Club. She was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Key Club, Natural Helpers and cross country. She also is skilled in drawing with colored pencils, painting, and using charcoal and participated on the science academic bowl team. She is the daughter of Sherri Neher and the late David Hasenour. She will be attending Purdue University and majoring in engineering.
Kasten completed three years of German language study at Jasper High School and was a member of the German Exchange Program for two years and German Club for four years. He also was member of the Robotics Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions and the National Honor Society. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and school concession stands. He is the son of Eric and Amy Kasten and Melissa Kasten. He will attend Purdue University to major in mechanical engineering.
