From Local Sources

IRELAND — Only minor damage was reported in an SUV-versus-mail truck mishap Monday afternoon in Ireland.

Barbara J. Kalb, 67, Ireland, was backing a 2005 GMC Envoy from her private drive on Darry Street when the 2:15 p.m. mishap occurred 500 feet south of Church Avenue, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy said Kalb failed to notice a 1994 U.S. Postal Service vehicle stopped at mailboxes on the west side of the street and her vehicle backed into it.

There was no visible damage to the SUV and only minor damage to the front of the postal vehicle, which was driven by Kevin G. Lueken, 55, Schnellville.
