Deputy works car-vs-turkey accident

CELESTINE — A Dubois County Sheriff’s Office deputy worked a car-versus-turkey accident Sunday morning east of Celestine.

Rosalie N. Hartwick, 66, Jasper, was northbound on State Road 545 in a 2011 Toyota Camry when the 10:55 a.m. accident occurred 100 feet south of County Road 75N, according to the sheriff’s office.

A deputy said the Hartwick Camry sustained damage to its driver’s side headlight, hood and grille areas when it struck a turkey that was in the car’s lane of travel.

Damage was estimated to have exceeded $2,500.
