BIRDSEYE — Deputies called at 12:15 a.m. today to investigate a domestic incident and the possible abuse of a child arrested a Birdseye man after finding a child victim.
Taken into custody on a Level 5 felony count of battery on a minor under the age of 14 was John E. Clark, 29, of 10284 E. State Road 64. A Level 5 felony under Indiana’s new criminal code was a Class C felony prior to July 1.
The victim in the case was a young female. Additional charges are possible pending further investigation, according to deputies.
Authorities booked Clark into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:23 a.m.
Also taken into custody was Sabina M. Ballou, 35, also of the State Road 64 address. Police discovered she had an active body-attachment warrant for a small claims case in Dubois County in which she owed $465.20. She was booked into the county security center at 4:30 a.m.
The Dubois County Department of Child Services assisted.
