Department responds to field fire

JASPER — Units of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department responded to a field fire Wednesday afternoon east of Jasper.

Doug Lampert was burning a brush pile at 1913 E. 200N when the fire got away from him at 3:16 p.m., according to department spokesman Zach Eichmiller.

A 1.25-acre area of dead grass burned in a field, but there was no other damage.

Three trucks and 18 firefighters were on the scene 30 minutes.
