JASPER — A wrecker was needed Thursday morning when a deer vaulted over a highway guardrail south of Jasper and into the path of a vehicle.
Michael S. Jones, 44, Loogootee, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2007 Honda Odyssey when the 6:45 a.m. accident occurred near WITZ Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Jones was traveling in a line of traffic when a deer jumped over the highway railing right in front of his Honda.
Jones struck the animal head-on causing damage estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
A G & M Towing wrecker took the vehicle from the scene because of disabling damage.
