Deer runs from accident scene

CELESTINE — A pickup truck and a deer were both able to leave the scene of a Friday evening collision west of Celestine.

Duane A. Murphy, 61, Dubois, was northbound on County Road 400E in a 2016 Ford F-150 when the 6:07 p.m. accident occurred south of State Road 164, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy said Murphy’s truck collided with a deer that entered onto the county road from the east. The passenger-side front struck the deer, which ran from the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
