DUFF — No wrecker was needed but damage was sustained when a deer jumped onto a passing pickup truck Friday night along a county road southwest of Duff.
Carol J. Meyer, 59, Huntingburg, was eastbound on County Road 450S in a 2005 Chevrolet 1500 series truck when the 11:41 p.m. accident occurred 350 feet east of County Road 800W, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said a deer jumped off an embankment on the south side of the road and onto the passenger side of the Meyer Chevrolet. Meyer said the deer then ran into the vehicle again, and ended up in a ditch.
The deer had to be put down at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
