HUNTINGBURG — An encounter with deer in the roadway Friday evening just southwest of Huntingburg sent a man’s truck into a ditch.
Clint L. Cooper, 33, Huntingburg, was westbound on Old Road 64 in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado when the 7:26 p.m. accident occurred west of County Road 400W, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
The sheriff’s department said four or five deer ran across the roadway. After it struck one of them, a deputy reported, the Cooper Silverado left the north side of the roadway and stopped in a ditch.
Cooper escaped injury but the accident likely totaled the truck, according to the sheriff’s department.
A deputy estimated the damage exceeded $5,000.
