Day of the Dead at Museum

On Monday, November 1, The Dubois County Museum, located at 2704 N. Newton Street (US 231 North) in Jasper, Indiana will host an immersive cultural experience celebrating Dia de Los Muertos, which translates to “The Day of the Dead”. This sacred feast transcends beliefs, education and borders. All are welcome to participate. It’s a day to honor the people we love who have died. The program will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the museum.  From 5:00-6:00 p.m. Altars de Muertos created by community members and Latinx partners will be open for viewing.  From 6:00-7:00 p.m. University of Southern Indiana Professor Manuel Apodaca will present:  Day of the Dead: Celebration, Mythology and Tradition. The evening will conclude from 7:00-8:00 p.m. with a Latinx Dance Class with instructor Daisy Valdez-Perez and refreshments featuring traditional breads and sweets.  This program has been made possible by a grant from Indiana Humanities in cooperation with the National Endowment of the Humanities.
