David Anthony Auffart, 18, Ferdinand, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, near Bristow.
He was born in Jasper on March 30, 1995, to Daryl and Cathy (Lasher) Auffart.
Surviving are his parents, Daryl and Cathy Auffart; three sisters, his twin, Kelley, Tempa and Rylee Auffart of Ferdinand; and his grandparents Anthony and Jeanette Auffart of Ferdinand and Barbara Lasher of Tell City.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David L. Lasher.
Mr. Auffart was a freshman at Purdue University and a farmer. He was a 2013 graduate of Forest Park High School, where he was an honor roll student, competed on academic teams, played the baritone saxophone with the 2012 state championship Marching Rangers, was active in musicals and was a member of the FFA, Beta Club, National Honor Society and Natural Helpers. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish, Ferdinand, where he was a youth group leader, Eucharistic minister and youth choir member. At Purdue he was a member of the Fall Concert Band and Gold and Black Sound and was a lifelong member of the Purdue Alumni Association. He enjoyed farming, Halo video games, nature and being outdoors.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
