DAV Auxiliary marks 100 years with projectNovember 7, 2019
The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary is celebrating its 100th anniversary. In celebration, the group wanted to do something special for the veterans it serves.
Members brainstormed to come up with a project that would benefit veterans in nursing homes and those who are homebound. The answer — Warm A Veteran, a project that would involve making lap blankets and wheelchair throws. Warm A Veteran became a reality with the help of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland and other volunteers who made donations of money, time and materials.
The blankets will be wrapped and delivered by Christmas. The DAV Auxiliary will also provide special treats for veterans.
The DAV of Dubois County can provide a van to take veterans to appointments and offers other support services. For additional information, contact Commander Donna Brittingham at 812-630-3029.
