Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140June 17, 2021
Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140 met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 14, in Room 301 of the St. Joseph Parish Center. Regent Marge Beckman called the meeting to order. The prayer was read by Kathy Bachman for the absent Bev Himsel, the Opening Ode was sung and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.
Draping of the Charter was held for deceased member Beverly Kleiser who passed on May 19, 2021. A rosary was then said for deceased members Virlee Schroering and Beverly Kleiser in lieu of no rosary said for them at the funeral home. Regent Beckman invited special intentions from members present; a prayer was said for membership and prayers were offered for the special intentions. Secretary Pam Schneider called the roll of officers. Excused from the meeting were Officers Mary Jo Hart, Bev Himsel and Sharon Gramelspacher. Vicki Welp was absent.
Schneider read the minutes from the May meeting and they were approved. Treasurer Rose Rasche gave the report of the Treasurer. Schneider read communications. A note was received from Kathy Bachman requesting a donation by the D of I to the Holy Family Church Grand Raffle. It was agreed to make a donation to aid the church and to make people aware of the Daughters of Isabella Circle.
Regent Beckman reminded officers that the slate of officers was due by October and to notify her if they plan to remain on the Board or if she needs to find a replacement. Kathy Bachman, Scribe, gave the report of the Scribe. She read resolutions on the death of Beverly Kleiser and she reported that a copy of the resolutions will be forwarded to the bereaved family.
The next quarterly board meeting will be held on Aug. 9, 2021, at 5 p.m. in Room 301. Report of Standing and Special Committees followed. Vice Regent Kathy Schneider reported that visitation to members in the Nursing Homes can resume in June. Members Mary Park and Brenda Heeke are scheduled. Schneider will notify them and remind them to call ahead to the nursing home.
Visiting in July will be May Kleeman, Betty Johnson and Diane Mehringer. For Social committee, members participated in a meeting drawing. Under Unfinished Business the Circle fundraiser of helping at the Moose Club Bingos was updated. The Circle will help again on June 25 and July 23 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Contact Vice Regent Schneider if you can help. Call her at 812-309-9108.
Under new business the Circle was asked to assist with the reception held at St. Joseph Parish plaza on Sunday, June 20, following the 9:30 Mass for Father Joseph Moyahan. May Kleeman agreed to coordinate. Also, Regent Beckman received an invitation from Haubstadt D of I Circle #151 on the occasion of their 100th Anniversary on June 26th.
For the Good of the Order Vice Regent Schneider read a reading concerning the 5th Commandment-You Shall not Kill. Regent Beckman called on Financial Secretary Betty Mehringer for a report on the receipts of the meeting. There were no bills.
Members closed the meeting with the Obligation, Closing Prayer, Peace has a Face prayer and the singing of the Closing Ode. Betty Mehringer won the meeting prize. The Circle will not meet in July, but will resume their regular meetings on Aug. 9, 2021, in Room 301 at 6:30.
