Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140May 19, 2021
Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140 members met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 10, 2021, at St. Joseph Parish Center, Room 301, at 6:30 p.m. Regent Marge Beckman called the meeting to order. Vice Regent Kathy Schneider, for the absent Chancellor Bev Himsel, led the members in prayer. Prayer was followed by the members reciting the Opening Ode and Pledge to the Flag. Draping of the Charter was held for deceased member Virlee Schroering. A short form of Conferral was held for new member Pauline Vonderheide and everyone stood for the Obligation.
Under Spiritual Activities Vice Regent Schneider read a prayer for membership and it was followed by special intentions expressed by members present. Prayers were said for intentions. Secretary Pam Schneider called the Roll of Officers and read the minutes from the previous meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was given and the motion passed. Treasurer Rose Rasche gave the report of the Treasurer and read the bills. A motion to accept her reports was made and the motion passed.
Secretary Pam Schneider read a Thank You note from the Virlee Schroering family for the donation from the Circle made in Virlee’s name to Holy Family Church to be used for Masses. A note from Junior Achievement was read and acted upon. Scribe Kathy Bachman read resolutions on the death of Virlee Schroering and a copy of the resolutions was sent to the family.
A Quarterly Board Meeting was held preceding the regular meeting. Quarterly reports were given by Financial Secretary Betty Mehringer, Treasurer Rose Rasche and Auditors Mary Jo Hart and Sharon Gramelspacher. The next board meeting will be on Aug. 9, 2021, at 5 p.m., in Room 301 at St. Joseph Parish Center. Vice Regent Schneider reported on the Standing and Special Committees. Visitation to the nursing home may resume in June. Schneider will notify the June Visitation committee.
There were no 50th Anniversaries acknowledged this month. Under Unfinished business the Circle Fundraiser was discussed. The Jasper Circle will continue to assist about every six weeks with the Jasper Moose Center’s Weekly Bingos. The Circle volunteered on April 30. An upcoming June date is being rescheduled due to a conflict.
Under new business, a Mass for living and deceased members will be read on May 11, at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Jasper. The Jasper Circle will celebrate their 100th Anniversary in 2022. Plans are to recognize the anniversary at the Membership Christmas Dinner in December 2021. Vice Regent Schneider read for the Good of the Order an article about the Fourth Commandment. Financial Secretary Betty Mehringer read the receipts of the meeting. The meeting closed with a prayer and the Closing Ode. Raffle and birthday winner was Betty Mehringer. The next meeting of the Jasper Circle #140 will be Monday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. The Circle will not meet in July.
