Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140October 13, 2020
Daughters of Isabella Jasper Circle #140 met for their monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. at the St. Joseph Parish Center. Regent Marge Beckman called the meeting to order. The prayer was led by Vice Regent Kathy Schneider. The Opening Ode was recited by all and the Pledge to the Flag was led by Regent Beckman.
Draping of the Charter was held for member Fern Bonifer, who passed away on Sept. 21. The Circle will be saying a rosary at the January meeting for deceased members who did not have a rosary said at the funeral home by the circle.
Installation of Auditor Mary Jo Hart was held.
For spiritual activities a prayer for members was said and members offered special intentions. Prayers were said and offered for the special intentions.
Secretary Pam Schneider called the roll of officers and read the minutes from the previous meeting. The minutes were approved.
Report of the Treasurer was given by Treasurer Rose Rasche.
Scribe Kathy Bachman read the Report of the Scribe and a resolution on the death of Fern Bonifer. Scribe Bachman also reported on information sent to parishes and media on the upcoming dressing fundraiser.
Vice Regent Schneider reported that visits to nursing home residents are still not offered. She is preparing notes to be sent to D of I members at the nursing homes. She also reported that a 50th wedding anniversary card was sent to Gail and Jerry Gramelspacher.
Members helped with the Moose Bingo on Sept. 25 and the next Bingo is Nov. 13. If you would like to volunteer to help (and you are a Moose member), contact Kathy Schneider at 812-309-9108.
D of I members will prepare raw, with no sage added, dressing (stuffing) on November 4-6 to sell. Cost of a gallon of dressing is $15, with one-half gallon for sale at $8. Deadline to order is Oct. 19 by calling Schneider at 812-309-9108 or Betty Mehringer at 812-482-3661. Dressing may be picked up at the south door at the St. Joseph Parish Center from 1-5 p.m. on Nov. 6. Please use the 10th Street entrance to the south door and save room for an exit. If members would like to sign up to help with the dressing preparation, contact Kathy Schneider.
The Daughters of Isabella Card Party is scheduled for March 3, 2021.
Regent Beckman read a letter from International Regent Suzanne Suchy. Suchy applauded circles for being concerned for members and thinking of ways to keep their circle active in these trying times.
Financial Secretary Betty Mehringer reported on the receipts of the meeting.
Regent Beckman led members in the Obligation, Peace has a Face prayer and the reciting of the Closing Ode. The meeting was adjourned. Celebrating birthdays in October were Pam Schneider and Kathy Bachman. Schneider won the birthday prize. The attendance prize did not go out. Kathy Schneider won the meeting prize. The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 9, at the St. Joseph Parish Center.
