Daniel E. Freyberger, 84, of Dubois, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper surrounded by his family.
Daniel was born on January 15, 1935, in Dubois to Daniel Sr. and Esther (Neukam) Freyberger. He married Mary Blackgrave on December 7, 1968, in St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads.
He served in the Indiana Army National Guard for eight years.
He worked the family farm and also for DIA in Jasper for over 30 years.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads and the White River Valley Antique Association.
He enjoyed spending time with his Farmall Tractors, going to tractor shows and fiddle music.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Freyberger of Dubois; three daughters, Denise Reuber (Jeff), Dubois, Christie Pace (Steve), St. Anthony, and Amy Freyberger (Melinda), Madison; a loving stepfather to David Rottet, Winslow, Steven Rottet, Haysville, Alice Hildenbrand, Huntingburg, and Doug Rottet (Jane), Huntingburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 19 stepgrandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Wiggins (Larry), Fordsville, Kentucky.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one stepdaughter, Margaret Steckler; one son-in-law, Tony Hildenbrand; and one daughter-in-law, Kathy Rottet.
Funeral services for Daniel E. Freyberger will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday Feburary 1, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at the Dubois Crossroads, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Mary Poston will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
