JASPER — Total damage topped $7,000 Thursday when a passenger car and an SUV collided on Second Street at the Hometown IGA parking lot exit.
JoAnn N. Lechner, 82, Jasper, was southbound in the supermarket lot in a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze that was stopped and waiting to exit at the time of the 11:44 a.m. accident, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police said Lechner pulled out into the path of a westbound 2019 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Debra K. Roach, 61, Huntingburg.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the Roach Toyota and $2,500 to the Lechner Chevrolet.
An officer cited Lechner for failure to yield the right of way.
