From Local Sources
JASPER — Total damage topped $5,000 in a two-car collision Monday morning on State Road 162 just south of Schnellville Road.
Katherine A. Fuhs, 67, Jasper, was southbound on State Road 162 in a 2010 Lincoln MKX at the time of the 6:45 a.m. mishap, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Fuhs slowed to turn right into Dubois County LP Gas, 1205 S. State Road 162 and when she did, her car was struck in the passenger side by a southbound 2005 Dodge Stratus driven by Caleb J. Johnson, 20, Jasper, according to the sheriff’s office.
Johnson told a deputy he was unable to stop after seeing brake lights but not a turn signal.
After striking the Fuhs Lincoln, Johnson’s car continued off the west side of the roadway until it struck two highway signs and a business sign’s post.
Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
