Damage reaches $6K in deer-vs-SUV accident

PATOKA LAKE — Damage was estimated at $6,000 in an SUV-versus-deer collision Saturday near Patoka Lake.

Richard T. Harris, 49, Celestine, was westbound on State Road 163 in a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox when the 10:52 a.m. accident occurred east of County Road 1100E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said the Harris SUV sustained front end and radiator damage when it collided with a deer that came onto the highway from the north.
