From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — Damage was limited in a Monday morning vehicle fire east of Huntingburg.

The Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department was called at 11:12 a.m. to the Robert and Sandra Ahlemeier residence at 7262 S. 75W.

Fire Chief Scott Patberg said Robert Ahlemeier had trash loaded in a 1990 Ford F-150. Smoking started when some of that cargo landed on the hot exhaust between the truck’s cab and bed.

There was negligible damage, according to the fire chief.

Two trucks and eight firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
