From Local Sources
JASPER — Total damage topped $5,000 in a car-versus-pickup-truck collision Sunday afternoon just west of Jasper.
Michael S. Thompson, Overland Park, Kansas, was northbound on County Road 350W in a 2008 BMW 328i when the 3:17 p.m. accident occurred at State Road 56, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
After an eastbound car passed, police said, Thompson thought the westbound lane was clear. He entered the intersection and his BMW struck the driver’s side of a westbound 2006 GMC Canyon driven by Vincent F. Ackerman, 86, Jasper.
No injuries were reported but total damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
A Bob Luegers Motors wrecker assisted and both vehicles were towed.
