From Local Sources
FERDINAND — No injuries were reported after an SUV-versus-passenger car collision Thursday afternoon at State Road 162 and North Industrial Park Road.
Kristen Merril, 30, Ferdinand, was southbound on State Road 162 in a 2011 GMC Terrain at the time of the 4:30 p.m. accident, according to the Ferdinand Police Department.
Police said Merril attempted to make a U-turn without signaling.
A trailing southbound driver, David Reckelhoff, 61, Ferdinand, attempted to pass the Merril GMC in his 2008 Nissan passenger car but was unable to avoid a collision after realizing Merril was executing a U-turn.
Damage was estimated between $10,000 and $15,000 to the Reckelhoff Nissan and between $5,000 and $10,000 to the Merril GMC.
No tickets were immediately issued but police advised Merril future citations were possible after the investigation is complete.
