Cyrilla Schatz, 93, of St. Meinrad, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at her home in St. Meinrad.
She was born September 15, 1925, in St. Meinrad to Anthony and Mary (Moeller) Egloff. Cyrilla married Ottis Schatz on July 19, 1945, in St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2011.
Cyrilla was a retired part-time cook at the Archabbey.
She was a member of St. Meinrad Parish and its Ladies Sodality. She belonged to Twin Lakes Home Economics Club.
Cyrilla was also known to her grandkids as Grandma Eggs.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy (John) Schultz of St. Meinrad and Dinah Schum of Horse Cave, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Jill VanHoosier, Jamey Marrs, Jackie Barnett, Stephanie Downey, Toni Fazio and Sarah Laine; 12 great-grandchildren; and her caretaker, James VanHoosier of St. Meinrad.
Cyrilla was preceded in death by three brothers, Hilbert, Clarence and Leander Egloff; a son-in law, John Schum; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 10 a.m. CT in St. Meinrad Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. CT at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and also on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. CT until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
