Cyrilla P. Schlachter, 104, Jasper
December 17, 2020Cyrilla P. Schlachter, age 104, of Jasper, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, in the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Cyrilla was born in St. Meinrad, Indiana, on March 10, 1916, to Jacob and Julianna (Egloff) Denning. She married Wilfred Schlachter on Oct. 30, 1945, in St. Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, Indiana. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2005.
Cyrilla worked at Briggs in Evansville, where she made planes for WWII. After marriage she was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper and the St. Ann’s Society.
She enjoyed dancing and making fancywork, and she loved making rosaries.
Surviving are one daughter, Doretha (Jerry) Wilz of Jasper, one son-in-law, Leroy (Joyce) Keller of Owensboro, Kentucky, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four nieces.
Preceding her in death besides her husband, are one daughter, Mary Jane Keller, one son-in-law, Kenneth DeGroot, five sisters, Lidwina Seger, Frieda, Alice, and Laura Denning, and Adeline Jent, one brother, Rupert Denning, who died in infancy, and one nephew, Maurice Seger.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Cyrilla P. Schlachter will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. Masks and social distancing will be required.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dubois County Humane Society or to a favorite charity.
