Cyber security threats WEW topic

The Dubois County women’s leadership organization, Women Empowering Women, will gather Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the St. Joseph Church Parish Center, 1029 Kundek St., Jasper. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. for networking before the meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. This event is open to all prospective and current WEW members.

WEW welcomes Indiana State Trooper Kurtis Blunk to provide information on cyber security threats and to discuss how to deal with many different types of issues. He will also discuss how personal information can be compromised and how to use the internet safely.

Blunk studied computer information systems at Vincennes University Jasper Campus. He has been working with the Indiana State Police for more than six years.

Becky Beckman will be available to discuss the local backpack buddies program. This program is an extension of the Community Meal program that is under the umbrella of St. Joseph Catholic Church and is run strictly with donations from area churches, organizations and individuals.

Advanced reservations are required for members and guests.  Reservations should be made by calling the Jasper Chamber of Commerce at 812-482-6866 or by emailing chamber@jasperin.org by Friday, Aug. 3. The cost for lunch is $5 per person and is payable at the door.
