Cummins, Maxwell earn certificate, patch

National Rifle Association Certified Junior Coaches Emilee and Abby Seitz of the Southern Indiana Sharpshooters awarded a Certificate of Achievement and an American Legion Shooting Sports Patch to Rookie Air Rifle Athletes Brittain Cummins, son of Kimberly and Yulin Cummins of Petersburg, and Chase Maxwell, son of Jada and Brian Cummins of Otwell. Each shooter graduated from the Basic Marksmanship Course of the American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program.

The program is a gun safety education and marksmanship program that encompasses the basic elements of gun safety, education and hands-on training. Each student received extensive classroom instruction and was required to achieve a passing score on the final exam and master range and gun safety.
