Culvert issue closes Cuzco-area road
April 14, 2020From Local Sources
CUZCO — A culvert issue that led to a road failure has temporarily closed a roadway southeast of Cuzco.
Dubois County Highway Superintendent Steve Berg says County Road 475N is temporarily closed at its intersection with County Road 1125E, but a culvert replacement there is planned for later this week.
The culvert and the road above it failed Friday afternoon when a property owner’s controlled burn neared the intersection. The culvert, which was a type of plastic pipe, acted as a chimney, bringing in flames that caused the pipe to catch fire.
The failure was reported at 5:47 p.m. Friday.
