Cub Scout sign-up for boys and girls

Boys and girls in grades kindergarten through five (ages 5 to 11) can join Cub Scout packs by going to their local elementary school from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, to register.

The organization is making a historical change this year, opening Cub Scouting up to both boys and girls; Scouts BSA programming, for girls ages 11-17, will begin next year.

The Boy Scouts of America offers adventure opportunities for all age groups. Cub Scouts is for boys and girls who are in grades kindergarten through five. In February 2019, the program currently known as Boy Scouts will become Scouts BSA, welcoming girls to work towards the Eagle Scout rank. This program invites boys, and soon girls, age 11 to 18. Venturing, which has included girls since the early 1990s, is a co-ed program for young men and women ages 14 to 20.
