Crossroads site of SUV-vs-deer collision

DUBOIS — A driver escaped with scrapes Saturday night when his SUV collided with a deer east of the Dubois Crossroads.
Taylor S. Wynings, 33, Washington, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2018 Subaru Forester when the 10:14 p.m. accident occurred 500 feet east of County Road 575E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said the Wynings Subaru sustained driver’s side headlight and grille damage and its air bags deployed when the vehicle collided with a deer that entered onto the highway from the north.
Wynings suffered knee scrapes but he and a passenger declined medical attention, according to the sheriff’s office.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
