Crop marketing, farm finance workshop setFebruary 7, 2020
The regional Purdue Crop Marketing and Farm Finance Workshop will be held at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds Clover Pavilion, Bretzville, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 6. This event is sponsored by Old National Bank, the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Indiana Corn Marketing Council.
The workshop provides farmers an opportunity to improve both their crop marketing and financial management skill sets. James Mintert, Nathan Thompson and Michael Langemeier, all from Purdue’s Center for Commercial Agriculture, will be conducting the workshop. There will be 90-minute sessions.
“Improving Your Crop Marketing Skills” will focus on learning about grain storage facilities, local grain basis patterns, and how people can take advantage of that knowledge to improve profitability for farm operation and reduce risk.
“Preparing to Meet with Your Ag Lender” will explore how to use enterprise budgets to evaluate long-term enterprise profitability, and whole-farm financial projections to evaluate profitability and repayment capacity for the upcoming year. A case farm will be used to illustrate the concepts.
There is no charge to attend this event, but preregistration by Feb. 21 is required for meals and materials at https://purdue.ag/workshop20. For questions about registration and more information about the program, contact Sarah Zahn at 765-494-7004 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
