ENGLISH — Authorities are investigating a Sunday incident in which a Crawford County Jail inmate died while in custody.
Correctional officers at the facility were alerted to an attempted suicide in B Block at the jail Sunday, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say officers immediately responded and observed William A. Trobaugh, 29, Taswell, with an article of clothing affixed around his neck.
Trobaugh was unresponsive, according to the sheriff’s office.
Correctional officers immediately notified dispatch to start medical personnel, worked diligently to free Trobaugh and performed CPR, according to the sheriff’s office.
Medical personnel arrived and Trobaugh was pronounced dead on scene.
Sheriff Jeff Howell contacted the Indiana State Police to investigate the incident.
The sheriff’s office posted on social media Monday for the public to keep the family and friends of Trobaugh in their thoughts and prayers.
