ST. MARKS — Heavy rain and flash flooding were reported at the time of a two-vehicle accident Saturday along a county road southeast of St. Marks.
Austin J. Clifton, 16, of rural Ferdinand, was northbound on County Road 600E in a 2001 Ford Taurus when the 12:15 p.m. accident occurred at County Road 650S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Clifton lost control of the car in a curve. The Taurus went into a spin, traveled left of center and into the path of a southbound 2000 Ford truck driven by Austin L. Chumbley, 24, St. Anthony, according to the sheriff’s office.
Damage from the resulting collision was estimated to have exceeded $5,000.
A family member transported Clifton to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center after the accident, according to the sheriff’s office.
A Berg’s Garage wrecker assisted.
