JASPER — Authorities booked a Jasper man into jail Thursday afternoon on warrants issued after court hearing no-shows.

Joseph B. Vaughn, 23, 2312 Sunset Drive, Jasper, was charged in March with Level 6 felony theft related to the theft of a bottle of Disaronno liquor from the CVS Pharmacy at 610 N. Main St., Huntingburg, on Feb. 3. The theft investigated by the Huntingburg Police Department was enhanced to a felony because of a prior theft conviction.

Vaughn was summonsed into Dubois Superior Court in May for an initial hearing on the shoplifting charge and, when he failed to appear for that hearing as well as a separate hearing on a motion to revoke his probation in a 2018 theft conviction, a warrant was issued for his apprehension.

Authorities booked Vaughn into the Dubois County Security Center at 12:26 p.m. Thursday on the active failure-to-appear warrants.
