HUNTINGBURG — The Huntingburg Police Department took a couple into custody Tuesday and accused them of a theft the previous evening.
Officers had been called to the report of a theft at the CVS Pharmacy, 610 Main St., at 7:37 p.m. Monday.
Store management explained to police that a man and a woman came into the store around 7 p.m. and store alarms were triggered shortly thereafter when the couple left allegedly without paying for items.
Police were told the couple had taken off on foot.
Officers viewed surveillance footage from CVS and identified the suspects as William A. Artiga, 29, and Diana Gandarilla, 41, both of 724 W. Third St.
Authorities allege that Artiga took a bottle of perfume valued at $61.99 and Gandarilla shoplifted a bottle of wine valued at $14.99.
Huntingburg police located Artiga and Gandarilla Tuesday and brought them to the police station for questioning.
Authorities booked Artiga and Gandarilla into the Dubois County Security Center early today on preliminary misdemeanor counts of theft.
