County reports two more COVID-19 deaths

JASPER — The Dubois County Health Department reported today the county's 15th and 16th COVID-19-related deaths.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of two additional COVID-19 related deaths within Dubois County, At this time we keep their friends and families in our thoughts and prayers," said Dubois County Health Officer Dr. Ted Waflart “This serves as an unfortunate reminder to all of the Dubois County community about the importance of following the recommended guidelines to stop the spread of this virus and help protect our most vulnerable neighbors.  We cannot stress enough for you all to wear a mask when around others, practicing social distancing, wash your hands frequently and if tested remain at home until you have received your results.”   

The department also reported today five new positive cases. Of the county’s 772 cases, 608 have recovered. A total of 5,972 Dubois County residents have been tested.

According to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the Jasper hospital has submitted 4,079 tests. Of those, 3,611 were negative. The hospital notes that a patient’s address will determine what county reports the positive case.

The Indiana State Department of Health reported Tuesday 506 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 82,336 cases. A total of 2,968 Hoosiers have died from the virus. Another 212 probable deaths have been reported.
