JASPER — The Dubois County Health Department reported today an 11th COVID-19-related death in the county and 28 new positive cases.
“We mourn the death and extend our prayers and sympathies to the individual’s family and friends,” Dubois County Health Officer Dr. Ted Walfart said in a press release. “This serves as an unfortunate reminder to all of the Dubois County community about the importance of following the recommended guidelines to stop the spread of this virus and help protect our most vulnerable neighbors. We cannot stress enough for you all to wear a mask when around others, practicing social distancing, and wash your hands frequently.”
Of the county’s 514 cases, 299 have recovered and 11 deaths have been reported. A total of 4,193 Dubois County residents have been tested.
According to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the Jasper hospital has submitted 2,712 tests. Of those, 2,398 were negative. The hospital notes that a patient’s address will determine what county reports the positive case.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported today 1,011 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 60,598 cases. A total of 2,687 Hoosiers have died from the virus and another 197 probable deaths have been reported.
