MENTOR — A county-owned dump truck ended up on its side after a Wednesday afternoon accident west of Mentor.
David L. Schuetter, 61, Schnellville, was westbound on State Road 64 in a 2016 Freightliner dump truck when the 12:50 p.m. accident occurred east of Schnell Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said the front passenger-side tire on the truck blew out, causing the Freightliner to travel off the north side of the highway. The truck stoped on its side in a ditch.
The accident closed down State Road 64 for about 30 minutes but Schuetter escaped injury, according to the sheriff’s department.
Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
The St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Ruxer Ford wrecker assisted.
