County encourages recycling of Christmas lightsNovember 23, 2018
From Local Sources
JASPER — The Dubois County Solid Waste Management District is asking residents to recycle, rather than throw away, old strings of Christmas lights this year.
County residents can recycle strands of old lights at the Solid Waste District Process Center, located at 1103 S. 350 W. in Jasper, and at the Jasper Rural King store, located at 1920 Lube Way, during regular hours Nov. 26 through Jan. 14.
“Cardboard barrels will be provided and we ask that residents just dump their strands of lights in the barrel without any bags or packaging,“ Solid Waste District Director Carla Striegel-Winner said. “We are excited to offer this seasonal recycling program for the first time, and hope everyone does the right thing and recycles their old holiday lights!”
The program accepts strands of electric lights only, not rigid frames such as yard shapes.
Residents may call 812-482-7865 or email email@example.com for more information.
