Council on Aging announces 3 tripsJanuary 9, 2019
The Spencer County Council on Aging is hosting three fundraising trips through Diamond Tours for 2019.
The first trip is to Washington, D.C., April 4 through 10 at a cost of $745 per person based on double occupancy. This trip will include motorcoach transportation, six nights lodging (four consecutive nights in the Washington, D.C., area) and 10 meals (six breakfasts and four dinners).
Travelers will take two guided tours of Washington, D.C., featuring the WWII Memorial, Capitol Hill, Embassy Row, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the Smithsonian, the MLK National Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. An evening guided memorial and monuments tour will include admission to George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate and garden and a tram ride through Arlington Cemetery. The council also is working toward a tour of the White House.
A second bus is being filled at this time. Final payment for the Washington, D.C., trip is due Monday, Jan. 28.
The second trip is Sept. 20 through 29 to San Antonio, Padre Island, Texas, and the Gulf of Mexico at a cost of $975 per person based on double occupancy. This 10-day trip will include motorcoach transportation, nine nights lodging (five consecutive nights in the San Antonio area) and 16 meals (nine breakfasts and seven dinners).
Travelers will visit Padre Island National Seashore and the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi, Texas. A guided tour of San Antonio will include the famous Riverwalk Cruise, admission to the famous Alamo, an IMAX Theater presentation, the Price of Freedom, the Institute of Texan Cultures and dan Antonio Missions, the National Museum of the Pacific War and the LBJ Ranch.
The third trip is scheduled for Dec. 10 through 12 to The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum in Williamstown, Kentucky, at a cost of $395 per person based on double occupancy. This trip will include motorcoach transportation, two nights lodging, four meals (two breakfasts and two dinners), admission to the Ark Encounter, admission to the Creation Museum, and a sightseeing cruise along the Ohio River on a BB Riverboat.
